Comparison of Share of Income to Share of Income Taxes Paid
This chart combines the data from the Summary of Income Taxes Paid and the Summary of Income Reported charts to illustrate the progressive structure of the federal income tax system, as seen in the percentages shown in the center column. A relatively small proportion of the U.S. population pays a disproportionately large percentage of federal income taxes. For example, in 2005 the top 10% of taxpayers paid 69.7% of the total income taxes collected by the federal government.

I’m curious, how did billy jeff clinton manage to make 100 plus million dollars since he left office? Can anyone tell me? I have a pretty good idea based on his character. No wonder these politicians will do anything to hold onto their seats with a death grip, their not public servants, they are wolves loose in the hen house. I am an advocate of the “Fair Tax” system, that would address all of the problems we face and bring back 13 trillion dollars hidden offshore as a result of the current system. All of the taxes combined wouldn’t fix the problem, they would just be squandered by the inept politicians who have no business keeping their jobs. This problem can only be fixed by radical reforms and limitations placed on what can be spent and more so what expendatures can be eliminated. When I hear the extent of wasteful spending by these so called custodians of our hard earned dollars, my fist clinches up wondering how much more are we going to put up with before we allow these morons do any more damage. History has shown us one trend, these guys are in large numbers getting caught with their hand in the public trough. Now they are so bold they don’t even try to be discreet. This leads to only one conclusion, they must think we are beyond dumb and they are right if we allow this to continue. It’s time to take unprecedented measures to prevent the political morons from screwing it up any more than they already have. We are in a national crisis and can’t afford to allow the same people who created this mess to try to fix it. Does that make any sense? Would you allow these people to manage your entire life savings knowing what you know now? If we don’t act now, i’ll gurantee that they will screw it up to the point that we won’t ever recover. That is the reality and it’s grim at best. If the people band together, we can solve these problems by not making the same mistakes with who we trust in the future.

I note that the sum of the percentages on this chart (and the adjacent chart) is 104.1% instead of 100%. The correct percentage of taxes paid for the 75% – 90% income group is actually 15.9% instead of 20.0%.
[Editor - You are correct sir. The chart has been updated. Thanks!]
