Growth of U.S. Population 1790 – 2050
The United States is the third most populous country on Earth. Even so, it comprises less than five percent of the world’s population and accounts for an even smaller fraction of global population increase. Though it has only about one-fourth the total population of India, the United States has more people ages 80 and over. At the same time, the United States has more than twice the total population of Nigeria but fewer children under the age of 5.1
